Buckhead real estate: What sets Atlanta apart from other cities is
that many of our luxury neighborhoods are so central - $2 million homes
on large lots are within walking distance to offices, restaurants, shopping
and other entertainment. The top "luxury" area in Atlanta
is Buckhead. Buckhead is not exclusively luxury properties, but has
the reputation as being the ritziest area of Atlanta. Homes up to $9
million, "the" zip codes are 30305 and 30327, "the"
streets are West Paces Ferry Road (includes the governor's mansion),
Habersham Road, Tuxedo Road, Valley Road and others. While there is
new construction in this area, the older (1920's) houses are the draw.
Noted Atlanta architects of that period include Neil Reed, Philip Shutze,
& Lewis Crooke. Buckhead is pretty much the center of Atlanta, convenient
to all other Atlanta areas. It is also the major "nightlife"
area with the majority of bars and restaurants.
